Publishing

UP FAMNIT does not carry out independent publishing activities; instead, it collaborates with the University of Primorska Press in publishing publications and materials. Its publishing activities include co-publishing three international journals, issuing various study materials for undergraduate and postgraduate study programs, and publishing conference proceedings.

The faculty has a Publishing Committee that reviews and approves study materials in accordance with internal regulations adopted by the Senate of UP FAMNIT, while also following university guidelines.

International Scientific Journals

The online edition of the journal Ars Mathematica Contemporanea (AMC) is freely accessible to everyone and can be found on the journal’s website. AMC is published by UP FAMNIT in collaboration with the Slovenian Discrete and Applied Mathematics Society, which has been co-publishing the journal since 2018.

The journal was founded in 2008 by Prof. Dr. Dragan Marušič and Prof. Dr. Tomaž Pisanski. It publishes top-tier scientific contributions in modern mathematics, originating from the paradigms of discrete and applied mathematics. Preference is given to research that connects discrete mathematics with other areas such as algebra, geometry, topology, theoretical computer science, and combinatorics. The name of the journal was chosen with care: symmetry is one of the themes particularly welcomed, as it is through symmetry that mathematics most closely approaches art.

In 2011, AMC was included in the SCI list. In 2015, based on its impact factor, it ranked in the top quartile of scientific journals in the field of mathematics, marking a significant milestone for Slovenian science and further strengthening the position of Slovenian mathematical research on the global map.

AMC is led by three editors-in-chief: Prof. Dr. Dragan Marušič, Prof. Dr. Tomaž Pisanski, and Prof. Dr. Klavdija Kutnar; the managing editor is Prof. Dr. Ademir Hujdurović. The editorial board also includes associate editors, a special advisor Prof. Dr. Marston Conder, and editors from renowned universities and research institutions across Slovenia, Europe, North America, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

The publication of AMC is co-funded by the Slovenian Research Agency (ARIS).

UP FAMNIT and the Slovenian Discrete and Applied Mathematics Society also publish the international mathematical journal The Art of Discrete and Applied Mathematics (ADAM).

ADAM is a modern, high-quality, open-access international scientific journal in the field of discrete and applied mathematics. It is published twice a year in English, with summaries in Slovenian. Besides regular issues, ADAM also publishes thematic special issues. In addition to research articles, the journal features data results of research and computer programs for reading, writing, and processing this data. The journal publishes both shorter contributions and longer, comprehensive surveys or catalogs of selected structures. It covers a broad spectrum of topics in discrete and applied mathematics, such as graph theory, combinatorics, algorithmic graph theory, combinatorial optimization, and their applications in science.

Since 2020, the journal has been indexed in SCOPUS.

ADAM is published by an editorial board led by main editors Prof. Dr. Dragan Marušič and Prof. Dr. Tomaž Pisanski, with Prof. Dr. Klavdija Kutnar serving as the responsible editor.

The journal DMC is freely accessible to everyone and is available on the journal’s website.

The scientific journal Discrete Mathematical Chemistry (DMC) publishes high-quality articles at the intersection of discrete mathematics and chemistry.

Chemistry has long been inspiration for research in areas such as graph theory, combinatorics, and group theory. DMC accepts contributions in these and related fields that present applications of non-trivial mathematics in chemistry or introduce new mathematical methods with potential for such applications.

The journal is published under platinum open access. It is freely available under the terms of the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 License.
