After graduating from University in Maribor, at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1994, Boris Benko started to work at then PTT, now Telekom Slovenije. He also received Perlach award for the best research work in the field of natural sciences and technology for year 1993/94. While at work, he was receiving a master’s degree from University in Maribor, at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1999. The title of the master’s degree thesis is “Algorithms for scheduling and data exchange in parallel processing”. His research interests include algorithms for parallel processing, advanced multiprocessor architectures and software development methodologies for parallel processing. After working for Telekom Slovenije for 10 years, he founded a software development company KAPION D.O.O., and in 2019 he also founded KAPION INTERNATIONAL SPRL in Brussels.

POVZETEK:
Container-native architectures have become enormously popular, due to the ability of rapid deployment of containerized application across the wide spectrum of on-premises infrastructure on one hand. And on the other hand, hybrid deployments across any cloud provider’s public or private infrastructure are possible. There is a trend of migrating software applications from the monolithic Jakarta EE Platform architectures to the Kubernetes native one. Monolithic architectures are typically limited to a particular set of services, which is set by the Jakarta EE product providers, whereby container-native architectures are not limited to a specific Java service version. Thus, an additional migration step needs to be performed, at which we need to analyse the current use of Java monolithic services and how these would migrate into the set of dynamic Java services. This not only affects the Java services migration, but also the software development effort needed to either retire monolithic Java services, integrate them into similar dynamic Java service or upgrade the Java service version.
