Tuesday, 26 June 2018 Position of Young Researcher in the field of Cryptography - deadline for the submission of the application prolonged till 16 July 2018 (2 p.m.)

The University of Primorska has prolonged the deadline for the submission of the application for the position of Young Researcher in the field of Cryptography to be trained at University of Primorska Andrej Marušič Institute (UP IAM) for obtaining a doctorate of science. Student’s mentor will be Prof. Enes Pasalic, PhD, one of leading experts in symmetric-key cryptography. The four-year doctoral study will begin in the Academic Year 2018/19.

The new deadline for the submission of the application is 16 July 2018 (2 p.m.).

The Public tender and the Instructions on how to apply (with application forms) are available on the UP IAM web-page.

The candidates who have not yet enrolled in a doctoral degree study programme and will be selected in this tender shall also apply separately for the Tender for Enrolment to Doctoral Degree Study Programme UP Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies in the 2018/19 Academic Year.

Student’s mentor will be Prof. Enes Pasalic, PhD, one of leading experts in symmetric-key cryptography.

The four-year doctoral study will begin in the Academic Year 2018/19.

Friday, 22 June 2018 The International School of Marine Conservation Sciences (isMCS) started

Yesterday marked the start of the International School Of Marine Conservation Sciences (isMCS), organized jointly by  University of Primorska (UP FAMNIT Department of Biodiversity), Oregon State University (USA) and Blue World Institute of Marine Research and Conservation (Croatia), under the umbrella of the Society for Conservation Biology, European Section.

This year's meeting hosts 20 students, coming from 11 countries (Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Montenegro, Spain, Sweden and the United States of America).

The program started with welcome speeches from Faculty dean Prof. Klavdija Kutnar, Head of the Department of Biodiversity, Assoc. Prof. Elena Bužan, and organizers (Prof. Selina Heppell, Assoc. Prof. Scott Heppell and Assoc. Prof. Bojan Lazar). Shortly afterwards, the students were already immersed in the introductory lectures.

  

The next 10 days will bring a packed program. Through lectures, invited speakers, field and lab work, as well as computer exercises on spatial aspects of conservation, the students will delve deep into different biological, policy and human dimension aspects of marine conservation. The first week, the program will be based in Koper, Slovenia; during the last three days the school will move to different locations in Croatia. You can read more about the event here: http://ismcs.famnit.upr.si/en

The University of Primorska has published a public tender for Young Researcher candidates in 2018.

The position of Young Researcher in the field of Mathematics will to be trained at University of Primorska Andrej Marušič Institute (UP IAM) for obtaining a doctorate of science. Student’s mentor will be Assoc. Prof. Istvan Kovacs, PhD.

Candidates must submit their applications till Monday, 16 July 2018 by 2 p.m.
