Friday, 16 May 2025 The successful conclusion of the 14th European Conference on Vertebrate Management (EVMC 2025)

More than 230 Researchers from 28 Countries Present Latest Findings on Vertebrate Management

Ankaran, 16 May 2025The 14th European Vertebrate Management Conference (EVMC 2025) successfully concluded today in Ankaran. Held from 12 to 16 May 2025, the event welcomed over 230 researchers from 28 countries. A total of 167 contributions were presented as part of a rich scientific program, prepared by authors from 45 countries around the world.

The conference featured 7 plenary lectures, 88 oral presentations, and 72 poster presentations. The event brought together 806 authors from across all continents.

A broad consortium of partners organized the event, including the Faculty of Environmental Protection, the University of Primorska (Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies), the University of Ljubljana (Biotechnical Faculty), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, the Julius Kühn Institute, the Hunting Association of Slovenia, the Hunting Association of Koper, and the Slovenian Forestry Institute.

Researchers presented scientific findings from a wide range of topics related to vertebrate management. Special focus was given to ecology, genetics, wildlife health, human-wildlife conflicts, invasive species, and modern approaches to population management. The research covered all vertebrate groupsfrom fish, amphibians, and reptiles to birds and both small and large mammals.

In addition to the scientific program, conference participants also explored the natural, cultural, and culinary features of Slovenia.

The conference represents an important milestone for the Slovenian scientific community, highlighting its contribution to the development of natural resource management and strengthening cooperation among researchers, managers, and policy-makers. As the EU adopts key measures for nature conservation, such as the Nature Restoration Law and the Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, events like this play a crucial role in translating scientific knowledge into practice.

We sincerely thank the sponsors and supporters of EVMC 2025, whose support made the event possible and contributed to the success and growth of our community.

We are pleased to announce that the 15th European Vertebrate Management Conference will be held in Croatia in 2027.
