Wednesday, 4 July 2018 The international School of Marine Conservation Sciences (ISMCS) successfully ended

On Saturday, 30th June, the International School of Marine Conservation Science (isMCS) successfully ended in Veli Lošnj (Croatia). 20 students from 11 countries (Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Montenegro, Spain, Sweden and United States of America) completed the 10 days study and research programme, which was jointly organised by University of Primorska (UP FAMNIT Department of Biodiversity), Oregon State University (USA) and Blue World Institute of Marine Research and Conservation (Croatia), under the umbrella of the Society for Conservation Biology.

The summer school included lectures, field data collection in protected areas of Strunjan, Sečovlje (Slovenia) and Miramare (Italy), lab work as well as computer exercises of spatial aspects of conservation. The international participats spent the last days in Croatia (Pula and Lošinj), where they got to know the importance of Aquria in sea turtle rehabilitation and conservaion. Last but not least, they got to know how an NGO can be involved in research and conservation of large marine vertebrates and its role in educating different interest groups.

We would like to thank all the participants for their effort and hard work and wish them all the best in changing the world with the newly gained knowledge.
