Monday, 4 January 2021 Assoc. Prof. Marko Tkalčič, PhD, ACM UMAP 2021 Programme co-chair

This year, the roles of the highest scientific officers as the Program Chairs at the ACM UMAP 2021(29th Conference on User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization) are going to be shared by Nava Tintarev from the University of Maastricht and Marko Tkalčič from the Department of Information Sciences and Technologies at UP FAMNIT.

ACM UMAP is the premier international conference for researchers and practitioners working on systems that adapt to individual users or to groups of users, and that collect, represent, and model user information. The conference will take place in Utrecht, the Netherlands, in a hybrid format in June 2021.

ACM UMAP covers a wide variety of research areas where personalization and adaptation may be applied. This includes a number of domains in which researchers are engendering significant innovations based on advances in user modelling and adaptation, recommender systems, adaptive educational systems, intelligent user interfaces, e-commerce, advertising, digital humanities, social networks, personalized health, entertainment, and many more.

Assoc. Prof. Marko Tkalčič, PhD, has been a leading member of the UMAP research community for several years now and is an editorial board member of the Springer UMUAI journal (A").

This is an important publicity outreach for the University of Primorska, as it will be positioned as one of the leading research centres in user modelling and personalization.

We sincerely congradulate Professor Tkalčič on his appointment!
