The prizes and awards, which Krka d.d. has been presenting for 56 years, are intended to promote excellence in research. A total of 3,431 young researchers have received them to date, many of whom have gone on to forge distinguished scientific, research and professional careers and made significant contributions to the development of science, the economy and society. This year’s Krka Awards for undergraduate and postgraduate research projects were characterised by record levels of interest from young researchers, who submitted the highest number of entries to date, as well as by exceptional achievements and the diversity of the topics covered. The best were awarded five major Krka Awards and five Krka Awards with a commendation for outstanding research work, as well as a further 50 Krka Awards and 76 Krka Prizes.
Among the recipients of Krka Prizes for undergraduate and postgraduate research projects are two students, both UP alumni:
- Andrej Milisavljević (UP FAMNIT, programme: Bioinformatics), who received the award for his final dissertation In silico analysis of the amino acid composition of binding sites on viral proteins (supervisor: doc. dr. Marko Jukič, co-supervisor: izr. prof. dr. Jure Pražnikar).
- Maruša Dolinšek (UP FTPO, programme: Polymer Technology), who received the award for her dissertation Study of the influence of reaction conditions on the depolymerisation of polylactic acid (supervisor: izr. prof. dr. Irena Pulko; co-supervisor: doc. dr. Klementina Črešnar Pušnik).
Congratulations to both of them on their awards and we wish them every success as they continue on their research journey!
