INVITATION TO STUDENTS: Take Part in the Principia Fall Competition 2026!

Are you a mathematics student, or are you interested in exploring mathematical problems? Would you like to put your knowledge into practice and contribute to the development of new mathematical proofs?

You are invited to take part in the Principia Fall Competition 2026, which will run from 1 October to 30 November 2026.

What is the Principia Fall Competition?

The competition encourages student teams to choose an open mathematical problem and develop it into a complete mathematical result. You can participate individually or as part of a team with your friends, using the Principia platform.

The project consists of five stages:

1. Solution – Developing a mathematical proof and checking its correctness.

2. Lean formalization – Expressing the mathematical result and proof in Lean and having it formally verified by a computer.

3. Research paper or preprint – Preparing the proof in the form of a scientific paper, providing the relevant context and acknowledging previous research.

4. Exposition – Creating a video, article, presentation or illustrated explanation that makes the mathematical result accessible to a wider audience.

5. Potential applications – Exploring how the results could be applied in mathematics and beyond.

Important: All five stages must be completed for a project to be eligible to win. A single piece of work may cover two stages, and different team members can complete different stages in any order.

Prize

USD 2,000 – The prize will be divided equally among the members of the winning team. The prize amount may also increase through additional sponsorship contributions.

Judging

Finalist projects will be evaluated by experts from Principia’s network of researchers.
