We are marking a significant anniversary this year – the 20th birthday of UP FAMNIT. During the twenty-year period the faculty has developed, grown and changed, but most importantly it has created a venue for knowledge, research, collaboration and new ideas.
For the occasion of the 20th anniversary celebrations, we wished to emphasize first and foremost what is currently taking place at UP FAMNIT and the important role the faculty plays in the broader academic and social environment.
The exhibition, which opened on Thursday, 1 October, presents a selection of 24 scientific events that the faculty has organised or participated in over the past few years. The events come from various fields of our activities, and each, in its own way, tells a part of the UP FAMNIT story.
The exhibition is therefore not merely an overview of individual events. Above all, it offers an insight into the diversity of our work in research, knowledge exchange, collaboration with other institutions, and our efforts to bring science closer to as wide an audience as possible.
Over the past decade, the faculty has significantly expanded its activities in the fields of research, education and international cooperation. We have developed new, innovative and interdisciplinary study programmes, and an increasing number of programmes are also being offered in English, bringing students to the faculty from different parts of the world. At the same time, we have strengthened our cooperation with universities and research institutions both in Slovenia and abroad, including through the European University Alliance Transform for Europe.
At the heart of all of this are people – our students, graduates, researchers, teachers and numerous partners with whom we co-create the life of the faculty. We are proud of our students and graduates, who today work in companies, research institutions, public institutions and other organisations. Some of them also return to the faculty as mentors, lecturers or colleagues. This is why we say that studying does not really end with graduation.
Another important part of our story is our openness to the wider community. We want to be a faculty that does not remain enclosed within its lecture halls and laboratories, but instead connects its knowledge and research with industry, public institutions, schools, research organisations and the wider public.
And it is precisely in this spirit that this exhibition has been created. Each of the 24 events presented here is a small piece of a much larger story about a faculty that has been growing, developing and seeking new ways of connecting knowledge with people and the wider community for 20 years.
