You are cordially invited to the first Biology Evening of this year, which will take place on Wednesday, 18 November 2026.
The lecture, entitled Tardigrades: Tiny Aliens in a Drop of Water – What Do They Do When They’re Not Surviving an Apocalypse?, will be delivered by Maša Herzog (University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty). The lecture will take place at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom.
Lecture description
Tardigrades, also known as water bears, have become famous as nearly indestructible creatures capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, radiation, and even the harsh conditions of outer space. However, behind their remarkable superpowers lies a whole world of other bizarre features – from ornamented eggs and parasitic lifestyles to missing researchers and deep-sea monsters.
During this lecture, we will delve into their bizarre biology and discover fascinating facts that are rarely mentioned in popular science media.
