11.09.2026 Free Online Courses on the Future of Healthcare and Innovation
The European project InnovPrecMed invites students to enroll in free online courses focused on the future of healthcare, innovation, and opportunities in this field.
Upon successful completion of a course, participants will receive an official certificate from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).
Two courses are available:
🔹 How are breakthrough solutions created that shape the future of healthcare?
Discover concrete examples of collaboration with companies such as BioVendor, LIGHTLY Technologies, KP Therapeutics, Pancrevo, and MendelFOLD, and learn how scientific discoveries can be transformed into clinical and business solutions.
🔹 How to turn an innovative idea into a business opportunity?
Are you interested in innovation, startups, and technology-driven business models? Learn about the basics of business planning – from entrepreneurship and market analysis to financial planning, risk management, and effective business plan presentation.

10.09.2026 Innovative Allnighter – 24-hour Student Hackathon
The Career Centre of the School of Economics and Business at the University of Ljubljana and the student association TOP EF invite students to participate in Innovative Allnighter, one of Slovenia’s largest student hackathons, taking place on 16 and 17 October 2026 at the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana.
The 24-hour competition is open to students from all faculties and fields of study. Working in teams and supported by mentors from academia and industry, participants will tackle real-world business challenges and develop innovative and feasible solutions, which they will present to a professional jury at the end of the event.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain practical experience, develop creative and strategic thinking, meet representatives from the business sector, and establish new professional connections. The winning team will receive a €1,000 prize, while all participants will receive a certificate of participation.
Participants can register individually or in teams of 3–4 members. Those who register individually and do not have a team will be assigned to a team on the day of the event.

04.09.2026 SID Bank offers two corporate scholarships to students
SID Bank is offering two corporate scholarships for students who wish to build their careers in the banking sector.
The scholarship includes:
- a monthly scholarship allowance,
- the opportunity to gain work experience through compulsory internships and holiday work,
- the possibility of writing a final thesis based on practical cases from the bank,
- the possibility of employment after graduation,
- opportunities for professional development and career growth within the bank.
The corporate scholarships are intended for students enrolled in Master’s degree programmes (second Bologna cycle), including students of UP FAMNIT.
Preference will be given to candidates who:
- regularly fulfil their study obligations and hold full-time student status,
- achieve a higher grade point average,
- have advanced knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams),
- have a higher level of practical English language proficiency.
The application must include:
- a motivation letter stating the reasons why the candidate wishes to become a scholarship holder,
- a CV,
- a certificate of enrolment in the current year of study or proof of student status,
- a certificate of all completed study obligations, including the grade point average,
- proof of Slovenian citizenship and permanent residence in the Republic of Slovenia,
- any additional certificates, recommendations or other supporting documents,
- a statement confirming that the student is not receiving a corporate scholarship from another employer.

Students, you are invited to the Information Security 2026 conference!
The Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security at the University of Maribor, in cooperation with the UP Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica, invites you to the conference “Information Security: Trust in People and Technology”, taking place on 2 and 3 November 2026 at Hotel Slovenija in Portorož.
The conference offers an opportunity to gain insight into current challenges in information and cybersecurity, learn about practical examples from the field, and connect with experts and potential employers.

01.09.2026 Job Opportunities at the Koper Financial Office
The Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (FURS), specifically the Koper Financial Office, is once again informing students about current vacancies.
Among the positions currently available are Financial Advisor Inspector, Financial Controller, Senior Financial Inspector, and Senior Financial Controller Specialist. Some positions are offered on a permanent basis, while others are fixed-term. All positions are full-time. The application deadline is 5 September 2026.

31.08.2026 Call for Doctoral Candidates: Present Your Research at an International Conference
Organized by the University of Rijeka and the University of Klagenfurt
From the 13th till the 14th of November, on the campus of the university of Rijeka, there will be a PhD conference, that will focus on Dual-Use technologies and Artificial Intelligence.
Doctoral candidates are invited to present their research though oral or poster presentations. The call is open to doctoral candidates from all disciplines whose research is relevant to the conference theme.

REGISTRATION ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT
On the day of the event, we will first meet at the registration desk, where you will receive:
- a temporary StartUP / OpenUP tattoo or bracelet (representing your accreditation for the event);
- Newly enrolled students (freshmen) will receive a brand new OpenUP t-shirt (*Important: you can only receive the t-shirt at the StartUP event, there is no collection of t-shirts at a later date);
- a stamp collection card (It contains the logos of all exhibitors. The system of the event is that you receive a stamp at the exhibitors’ stands when you have successfully completed an activity. For a sufficient number of stamps, you will receive a small promotional gift at the end).

19.08.2026 Opportunity: Summer School at Saarland University
An interdisciplinary summer school on Quantum Information Theory will take place at Saarland University. It is aimed at advanced undergraduate (Bachelor’s) students in mathematics, computer science, and physics who are interested in research at the intersection of these disciplines.
The summer school will be organized in cooperation with the Transform4Europe (T4EU) Alliance. Of the approximately 50 available places, 15 will be reserved for students from universities that are part of the T4EU Alliance.
Students from T4EU member universities can receive financial support for travel expenses of up to EUR 200.

18.08.2026 Scholarships for Western Balkan Students for Master’s Studies in Slovenia
The Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia has published a call for scholarships for foreign nationals pursuing Master’s studies in Slovenia in the 2026/27 academic year.
The scholarships are available to citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia who will pursue postgraduate Master’s studies in Slovenia in one of the eligible fields covered by the call.
Eligible study fields include natural sciences, mathematics, statistics, and information and communication technologies (ICT), making this opportunity particularly relevant for prospective Master’s students at UP FAMNIT.
What does the scholarship offer?
Successful applicants may receive a scholarship for living expenses amounting to EUR 9,600 per year.
Application deadline: 2 September 2026.
By the application deadline, applicants must have either temporary residence registered in the Republic of Slovenia or a valid power of attorney granted to a person residing in Slovenia. Scholarship recipients must reside in Slovenia during their studies from 1 October 2026 onwards and must submit an application for a temporary residence permit for study purposes by that date.
The application form and all required documentation must be submitted to the Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia by the deadline and in accordance with the instructions provided in the call.
