An interdisciplinary summer school on Quantum Information Theory will take place at Saarland University. It is aimed at advanced undergraduate (Bachelor’s) students in mathematics, computer science, and physics who are interested in research at the intersection of these disciplines.

The summer school will be organized in cooperation with the Transform4Europe (T4EU) Alliance. Of the approximately 50 available places, 15 will be reserved for students from universities that are part of the T4EU Alliance.

Students from T4EU member universities can receive financial support for travel expenses of up to EUR 200.

After registering, students will receive a brief confirmation within two weeks. Receiving this confirmation does not mean that funding has been approved.

Please note that all applicants who are not students at Saarland University will be required to submit a short letter of recommendation or letter of support from a researcher at a senior academic level, such as a professor or postdoctoral researcher. The Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia has published a call for scholarships for foreign nationals pursuing Master’s studies in Slovenia in the 2026/27 academic year.

The scholarships are available to citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia who will pursue postgraduate Master’s studies in Slovenia in one of the eligible fields covered by the call.

Eligible study fields include natural sciences, mathematics, statistics, and information and communication technologies (ICT), making this opportunity particularly relevant for prospective Master’s students at UP FAMNIT.

What does the scholarship offer?

Successful applicants may receive a scholarship for living expenses amounting to EUR 9,600 per year.

Application deadline: 2 September 2026.

By the application deadline, applicants must have either temporary residence registered in the Republic of Slovenia or a valid power of attorney granted to a person residing in Slovenia. Scholarship recipients must reside in Slovenia during their studies from 1 October 2026 onwards and must submit an application for a temporary residence permit for study purposes by that date.

The application form and all required documentation must be submitted to the Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia by the deadline and in accordance with the instructions provided in the call.

The Brez izgovora Youth Association team is looking for new members – students to facilitate professional preventive workshops at primary and secondary schools, mainly in Ljubljana and Celje, as well as in other locations across Slovenia.

The position involves delivering preventive and educational programmes at primary and secondary schools, focusing on topics such as mental health, the development of social skills, and addiction prevention.

The pay is €8 net per hour (for multiple workshop hours delivered consecutively or for online workshops) or €9 net per hour (when delivering only one school lesson). This includes one lesson, i.e. 45 minutes of workshop delivery and 15 minutes of preparation. The hourly rate increases every six months of employment.

An exciting opportunity awaits students who are passionate about gaming, teamwork, and competition. The eighth season of the Student E-Sports Tournament is coming soon.

The tournament offers students the chance to represent their university while competing against teams from higher education institutions around the world, in front of hundreds of fellow students and online viewers.

The competition spans four months, beginning with the qualifying rounds in November and December. The playoffs take place in January and February, with the finals scheduled for late February or early March. The qualifying rounds and playoffs will be held online, while the finals will take place in Zagreb, Croatia.

This season features competitions in the following titles:

• VALORANT
• Counter-Strike 2
• Apex Legends
• EA SPORTS FC™ 26

Participants will form their own teams and coordinate with a faculty representative throughout the competition.

The 12th Student Computing Research Symposium (SCORES) will take place on 8 October 2026, at UP FAMNIT

The Student Computing Research Symposium is an annual research conference organized by the University of Primorska, the University of Ljubljana and the University of Maribor. The conference aims to encourage students to present and publish their research works in the field of computer science, thereby fostering their collaboration and creativity.

We invite both BSc and MSc students to submit research papers from all fields of computer science. The length of the paper is limited to 4 pages. MSc students must write their papers in English, while BSc students may choose either English or Slovene. If your paper passes the acceptance threshold, it will be designated either for oral presentation or for poster presentation.

Having a paper presented at a conference and published in the conference proceedings is a reward in itself. Nevertheless, the authors of best papers, posters and/or presentations will receive additional awards contributed by the organizers and our industry partners.

We invite UP FAMNIT students to join us in addressing the practical challenges companies face. Companies producing food products are increasingly confronted with the question of how to reduce the environmental impacts of production, use raw materials more efficiently, reduce the amount of waste generated, and at the same time take into account the impacts of food supply chains on biodiversity.

Within the framework of two projects, students will, under the guidance of mentors, analyse the environmental, circular economy, and nature conservation aspects of production based on a selected food product or production process, and prepare proposals for improvements for the company. The aim of both projects is to enable students to gain concrete experience in addressing practical challenges in the business environment.

Based on a selected food product or process, you will analyse circular aspects of production, particularly the use of raw materials, energy, water, packaging, and waste generation, as well as biodiversity-related aspects of the supply chain, with a focus on the origin of raw materials and the impacts of production on habitats, species, soil, water, and pollinators. Based on your findings, you will prepare a set of feasible measures to reduce the environmental and biodiversity footprint of the product.

Through this work, you will integrate interdisciplinary knowledge from the fields of sustainable development, environmental management, circular economy, conservation biology, and data analysis.

Each project will include two undergraduate students from the Conservation Biology programme and one student enrolled in a second- or third-cycle programme. We are therefore inviting applications from:

• 4 students enrolled in the first-cycle university study programme at UP FAMNIT – Conservation Biology track (2 students will be selected for each project);
• 2 students (from any study field) enrolled in a second- or third-cycle programme at UP FAMNIT.

Your participation represents an excellent opportunity to:

• gain concrete practical experience in a real working environment;

• establish valuable connections with industry and the wider community;
• enjoy the experience and have fun while working.

How will the project be carried out?

The project will last 5 months. (Organizacija študijskega dela, 2026) Project activities will take place as a supplement to the regular study process. Most of the work will be carried out in student groups or independently, with guidance from mentors from the company and the School of Sustainable Development. The work will mainly be conducted online, but you can also expect several in-person meetings. At the end of the project, you will receive a financial reward and a certificate of participation for your completed work. (Začasno in občasno delo dijakov in študentov, 2026)

The project activities will be carried out within the framework of the public call “Public Call for Problem-Based Learning of Students in the Work Environment: Economy, Non-Economy and Non-Profit Sector in the Local/Regional Environment 2024–2027 (PŠU in the Work Environment 2024–2027)”. Therefore, students who are enrolled in a publicly valid study programme in the Republic of Slovenia at the time of project implementation may participate.

An important condition for participation is that, during the implementation of the project, students are not employed or self-employed and are not registered in the records of unemployed persons or jobseekers at the Employment Service of the Republic of Slovenia.

In the event of a larger number of applications, a selection process will be conducted. When deciding whether to apply, please consider that:

• you will need to be available for at least 5 months (approximately from mid-October 2026 to mid-March 2027);
• you will be expected to work on the project for approximately 40 hours per month, or around 200 hours in total during the project period (partly through team meetings, partly through independent work at home, and partly at the company);
• you will need to collaborate with colleagues from other faculties who will also be members of the project team;
• you must be enrolled in the selected study programme and maintain active student status throughout the entire duration of the project;
• the work is paid, and you will need to provide a student work referral form (študentska napotnica).

In your application, please include your basic information (name and surname, email address, study programme/field, and year of study) and briefly explain why you have decided to participate in the project and how you see your contribution to the implementation of the project’s main idea.

Each student may participate in only one project.

In the academic year 2026/2027, the University of Primorska is publishing its first call for enrolment in short educational programmes and training courses, upon completion of which participants obtain a micro-credential. Unlike macro-credentials (such as diplomas or licences), these courses are shorter in duration and focus on a narrower topic; within the education system, they complement degrees but cannot replace them.

The offer for the academic year 2026/2027 includes 24 courses delivered by six UP faculties and the UP NEBAP Hub. Enrolment is open to all interested individuals – students, employees, and the wider public. The courses carry ECTS credits, and micro-credentials thus enable a fast and flexible way of acquiring new knowledge and competences, which individuals can also use in further education and career development.

Applications are submitted via the online application form by 15 August 2026 (the deadline has been extended to September 10, 2026.)for courses delivered in the first semester, or by 15 January 2027 for courses delivered in the second semester.

T4EU Stakeholder Challenge, which will take place from 13 to 15 November 2026 as part of Startup Weekend Saarbrücken 2026.
